Can you really develop a brand, design and code the website, create production-ready packaging for all of the products, then 3D render it while you design motion-graphics heavy ads, and write the copy for it? Yes.
I fell into design by accident when I decided to change my whole high school schedule to take a graphic design class with a girl I had a crush on. Lucky for me, I quickly found out that design wasn’t just something I was good at, it was something I loved to do.
I spent college trying to figure out which branch of design I liked the most – and found that branding let me use the skills I learned from all of them.
After graduation, I moved from eastern PA to NYC and fell head-over-heels for this gorgeous, amazing, pigeon-and-rat-infested wonderland. I think New York startups and New Yorkers share a scrappy-survival nature that relentlessly fascinates me, and it’s why I’ve devoted the first years of my career helping small companies and back-of-napkin ideas grow into powerhouses in their industries.
In the 7 years I’ve been at large, I’ve worked hard to master a variety of skills that let me flex between one-man-band or kickass-teammate as needed. Along the way, I’ve picked up some inside knowledge of the pains and highs of growing small brands, and while I have yet to win a major award or gallery space — the fruits of my labor can be purchased nationwide at stores like Costco, Urban Outfitters, Walmart, and more. Not bad, I would say.
But the thing I’m happiest about: I got married to that same girl from the design class on September 4th, 2021.
I love design for all it’s brought me, and I bring that same love to every project I work on.
